What is Microsoft Teams?
Microsoft Teams is the hub for teamwork in Microsoft 365 — it combines chat, video meetings, file storage, and app integrations in one place. It is included in all Microsoft 365 Business and Enterprise plans.
Step 1 — Access Teams
Users can access Teams directly in the browser at teams.microsoft.com, or download the desktop app from the Microsoft Teams download page.
Step 2 — Create Your First Team
In Teams, click Teams in the left sidebar, then Join or create a team → Create team. Choose a team type (e.g., Other for general use), give it a name, and add your colleagues as members.
Step 3 — Create Channels
Inside your team, click Add channel to create topic-specific spaces (e.g., General, Projects, HR). Channels keep conversations organised so nothing gets buried.
Step 4 — Start Meetings
Click the Calendar icon in the left sidebar to schedule a meeting, or click the video icon inside any chat or channel for an instant meeting. Teams meetings work on desktop, mobile, and browser.
Admin Settings for Teams
As an admin, you can configure Teams policies (meeting policies, messaging policies, guest access) from the Teams Admin Center at admin.teams.microsoft.com.
