Retail vs OEM — which one do you need?
Retail keys travel with the user, not the machine. If you upgrade your PC in the future, deactivate on the old one and activate on the new one — your license comes with you. OEM keys are permanently tied to the first machine they activate on. They’re cheaper, but if your hardware dies or you upgrade, the license goes with it.

Windows 10 vs 11?
Windows 10 still works normally, but Microsoft stopped releasing new updates in October 2025. For a long-term setup, Windows 11 is the right choice. Windows 10 makes sense only if your hardware doesn’t meet Windows 11 requirements (check for TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot).
